Songwriter, Ian Roland, writes and performs original Roots Pop songs with a Modern Vintage vibe, full of heart-strung orchestration and up-close, life-drenched lyrics. Described as “Paul Simon meets Fleet Foxes” and “Nick Drake meets Elbow”, Ian plays live as a solo act and also as a duo, with bassist, Dave Coomber, and as a full band with Sonny Crowe, on keys and lead guitar, and James Chapman, on drums. Recordings also often include strings (Simon Yapp) and piano (Mishkin Fitzgerald). Ian has supported acts such as Martin Simpson, The Black Feathers, Stick In The Wheel, TV Smith (The Adverts), Robb Johnson, Boo Hewerdine, Robert Vincent, Chris Helme, Joshua Ray Walker, Laura Jane Wilkie, 10cc’s Graham Gouldman.
